This is the Explanation of BMKG, the Ambiguous Event of the Gubeng Road is Not Liquidation or Earthquake

Kolom Aktual. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to the public not to panic and fret over the collapse of Highway Gubeng, Surabaya City, Wednesday (12/18/2018) yesterday.

Center for BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Information Center Head Rahmat Triyono said that the collapse of the land was not a liquidity event.

"Based on observations, the land subsidence that occurs at a depth of about 30 meters and a width of 8 meters is an event of land subsidence and not a liquidity event which is widely reported because there is no phenomenon of melting soil material at the scene," Triyono said through a press release on Thursday (20 / 12/2018).

Based on the results of the analysis of seismic waves (seismicity) recorded, even this land subsidence event is not a result of earthquakes (tectonic activity) such as those circulating on social media.
The seismic record does not indicate a rock shift mechanism. The seismic sensor noted that only one sensor in the nearest location was land subsidence so it was categorized as a local activity. Also read: PVMBG recommendation about Jalan Gubeng Surabaya which is Ambles

Triyono continued, actually, there have been two similar events in the same location. "Based on observations on the closest BMKG seismic sensor, namely the PJI sensor (Prigen Pasuruan Jawa Indonesia), this incident has been recorded twice," Triyoni said.

"The first meeting was recorded at 21.41.27 West Indonesia Time and the second was at 10:30 a.m. WIB," he continued.

For this information, BMKG appealed to the public not to be consumed by news that was not really eyebrow hoax.

The community was asked to access reliable sources of information, namely the BMKG website and the official BMKG social media to find out more and more accurate information.
